When we go into something anticipating a negative experience, it usually doesn’t go well. We often only see things that confirm our expectations and prove that we’re right.

We don’t even look for things that could be evidence to the contrary.

Our perspective going in contributes to the experience we have – even if that perspective is based on assumptions that may or may not be true.

Bracing for the worst deprives us of the opportunity to hope for (and experience) the best.

Questioning our assumptions allows us to go in with an open mind, which in turn allows us to notice and experience it all.
